UmmahSocial

Our standards

UmmahSocial is a public square for the Ummah. Five lines, plain language. A human - not a machine - reads every report.

  1. No impersonation. Be who you say you are. Parody must say "parody" in both the handle and the bio, or it's treated as impersonation.
  2. No incitement. No calls for violence or harm against anyone.
  3. No sexual content.
  4. No takfir of named individuals. Scholarly disagreement is welcome; declaring a named person outside the faith is not.
  5. No doxxing. Never post someone's private information.

What we never remove

Scholarly disagreement, honest criticism, and unpopular opinions that break none of the five lines above.

How review works

Signed-in members see "Report to a human" on every post. Four named people on our team read every report - about a post, and about a post to Sands. A removed post shows as [deleted]; the author keeps a record of what they wrote.

A reported post to Sands is hidden the moment it is reported, and held past its own timer, so nothing disappears while a person is still reading it. If the report was wrong we put the post back and its own timer resumes. If it was right the post stays hidden and we delete the file after 90 days, which leaves the author time to appeal - and we check the link is dead before we call it gone.

Held handles

Handles of well-known scholars and organisations are held, not given out - released only on evidence.

What this place is

Your posts go to the people who follow you, newest first. Nothing ranks them, and nothing else decides who sees your words. Owned by the Ummah, not rented - built and operated by Ummah Media Group as part of UmmahCity.

One thing sits above your feed and it is not a post: a strip of the people you follow who put something on Sands in the last day. It is not ranked, not suggested and not filled in - it is the people you chose, newest first, and it empties itself every day. Nobody you do not follow appears in it, and nothing is ever inserted between two posts.
